Divorce Mediation

Divorce Mediation

Mediation helps couples resolve their legal disputes amicably and efficiently. Beth is a skilled mediator who can help you and your spouse reach the best possible settlements while preserving a peaceful, respectful relationship. Mediation gives you control over the process and can often provide results that meet your specific needs and objectives better than an in-court process can. Mediation is typically much less expensive than litigated divorce, and the process can be completed more quickly, at a pace that works for you.

Beth has more than 20 years of experience as a mediator helping couples resolve their divorce related issues without going to court. Beth will guide you through the process, including gathering all the necessary information and analyzing settlement options to find a solution that works for each of you. Beth‘s office will prepare all required court forms as well as financial disclosures and settlement documents, so you will not need to go to court during the divorce process.

Preserving Relationships
In many cases, both you and your ex-spouse are best served when you can establish and maintain a cordial relationship. A low-conflict cooperative divorce makes it easier to co-parent to and to preserve positive relationships with extended family and friends you may have in common.

Negotiating agreements
Divorcing couples can use mediation to reach an agreement that values the interests and needs of both spouses and provides stability for the children of the marriage. Settlement agreements can cover all issues, including child custody, child and spousal support, as well as asset and debt division. During the mediation process, Beth will explain the applicable legal requirements and share options for settlement, including solutions reached by other parties in circumstances similar to yours. Some parties choose to follow California law in their mediated divorce, but this is not required on every issue, and Beth will help you understand the alternatives. Parties do not have lawyers present during mediation but can choose to work with an independent consulting attorney outside of mediation for individualized advice.
